Fixture Plates

Precision starts with a stable foundation. Fixture plates provide the rigid, repeatable mounting surface required for accurate part positioning across inspection, machining, and assembly applications. Engineered to tight tolerances, these plates deliver the flatness and hole-pattern consistency that quality-critical workflows demand — minimizing setup variation and ensuring measurements you can trust from the first part to the last.

Fixture plates are available in a range of sizes and configurations to accommodate diverse workholding needs, from benchtop inspection setups to full CMM integration. Hardened and ground surfaces resist wear under continuous production use, while precisely located mounting holes and T-slots offer the flexibility to adapt fixturing arrangements without sacrificing positional accuracy.

Whether you're standardizing a quality lab, outfitting a metrology station, or building repeatable fixtures for in-process inspection, Fixture plates are built to perform where precision is non-negotiable.

The collection carries 14 Rayco Fixtures aluminum fixture plates, covering a range of sizes, thicknesses, orientations, and thread standards. Options span from compact 18"×18" imperial plates to large 750mm×750mm metric squares, with both horizontal (flat) and vertical plate configurations available. All plates are engineered for use with CMM and inspection systems, and are designed to work natively with Rayco's modular fixture kit component systems.

A fixture plate is a precision-machined, flat mounting surface with a regular grid of threaded holes used to anchor and position parts and fixturing components for inspection, machining, or assembly. Unlike a bare CMM table or a generic workbench surface, a dedicated fixture plate provides a known, stable, and repeatable reference foundation ensuring that every time a part is set up, it occupies exactly the same position in space. This repeatability is what separates measurements you can trust from measurements that vary between setups, operators, or shifts. For any quality-critical workflow, the fixture plate is the foundation everything else depends on.

The collection offers three thread standards across its 14 plates: M6, M8, and 1/4-20 UNC. M8 is the most common metric standard and is used across the largest selection of plate sizes in this collection, including the square plates from 450mm up to 750mm and the vertical VP plates. M6 plates are available in 450mm and 600mm square sizes for applications requiring a finer thread pitch or compatibility with M6-based fixture components. The 1/4-20 imperial plates which are available in 18"×18", 24"×24", 28"×40", and 30"×30" sizes with two thickness options are the standard for North American CMM platforms and imperial fixture kit systems. Match your plate's thread standard to the Rayco fixture kit you're using (R6, R8, or R20 series) and your CMM table interface.

The collection includes two plate formats. Square/horizontal plates are available in metric sizes of 450mm×450mm (13mm thick), 600mm×600mm (13mm or 19mm thick), and 750mm×750mm (19mm thick) in M6 and M8 thread versions, as well as imperial 1/4-20 plates in 18"×18", 24"×24" (two thickness options), 28"×40", and 30"×30" configurations. Vertical plates (VP suffix) are available in M8 and 1/4-20 threads. The R8-500250-VP measures 500mm×250mm and the R20-2010-VP measures 20"×10" designed to stand upright for fixturing parts in a vertical orientation on a CMM or inspection station. Plate thickness for square plates ranges from 0.50" to 0.75" in imperial and 13mm to 19mm in metric.

All plates in the collection are machined from aluminum and finished with a clear hard lube anodize coating. Hard anodizing significantly increases surface hardness and wear resistance compared to standard anodized aluminum, protecting the plate surface and threaded holes from damage under continuous production use. The lubricated anodize also reduces friction at threaded interfaces, making it easier to install and remove Rayco modular standoffs, clamps, and locating components repeatedly without galling or thread wear. Aluminum construction keeps the plates lightweight relative to steel alternatives while still providing the rigidity needed for accurate part positioning.

Every Rayco fixture plate has engraved numbers along the X-axis and letters along the Y-axis, creating a coordinate reference grid directly on the plate surface. This makes it straightforward to document, communicate, and reproduce fixture setups. For exmaple, an operator can record that a standoff is at position "D-7" and another technician can replicate that exact configuration on a different shift or at a different station without ambiguity. For quality labs managing multiple part numbers and fixture programs, this built-in coordinate grid is a significant time saver during changeover and setup verification.

Vertical plates are oriented upright rather than lying flat, allowing parts to be fixtured and measured in a vertical standing position. This is useful when the features to be inspected are best accessed from the side rather than from above, when the part is too tall to measure efficiently in a horizontal configuration, or when a CMM's probe travel or stylus reach is better utilized with the part presented vertically. The VP plates in this collection are designed to bolt securely to a CMM table or base structure while presenting a full grid of M8 or 1/4-20 threaded holes on the vertical face for component mounting.

Yes! When ordering any Rayco fixture plate, you have the option to specify custom CMM mounting holes to match your machine's table interface. To take advantage of this, provide the make, model, and axis dimensions (X, Y, Z) of your CMM at the time of ordering. This ensures the plate can be bolted directly and precisely to your CMM table without requiring additional drilling, modification, or adapter components after delivery. If you're unsure which hole pattern your machine requires, Gustavo can help confirm compatibility before the order is placed, simply call or text 617-398-7852.

The fixture plates are designed as the base surface for Rayco's modular fixture component systems. The threaded hole grids on the plates accept the standoffs, clamps, magnets, suction cup assemblies, locating blocks, tension springs, and other components from Rayco's CK, MCK, and VCK fixture kit families all of which are available in matching M6, M8, and 1/4-20 thread versions. Together, the plates and kits form a complete, infinitely reconfigurable fixturing system: the plate provides the stable, flat reference surface, and the kit components provide the flexibility to position and hold virtually any part geometry on top of it. Selecting a plate and a kit of the same thread standard (e.g., an R8 plate with an R8 kit) ensures full component compatibility.

All Rayco fixture plate orders ship free to the continental USA, backed by a best-price guarantee. A 30-day return policy and Affirm financing at checkout are available. Government and institutional buyers can submit an RFQ through the dedicated Government RFQ page.
