Mark-10 Model 7i Force/Torque Indicator (M7i)
The Mark-10 Model M7I is the top-tier professional force and torque indicator in Mark-10's indicator series, designed for engineers, QC labs, R&D departments, and production environments that require the highest level of measurement speed, data capture capability, and test automation in a bench-mountable or portable indicator platform. Built in the USA and carrying a 3-year warranty, the M7I pairs with the full range of Mark-10 Plug & Test® remote force and torque sensors to deliver a complete, configurable force and torque measurement system without the cost or footprint of a dedicated materials tester.
At the core of the M7I is an industry-leading 14,000 Hz sampling rate designed to capture the true peak load in fast-action tests such as switch activation, fastener break detection, snap-fit engagement, glass fracture, and other events where a slower instrument would miss the actual peak and return an artificially low reading. Beyond peak capture, the M7I can continuously record and store up to 5,000 data points at that same 14,000 Hz acquisition rate, building a complete load-versus-time profile of the test event internally. That buffer can be bulk-downloaded to a PC after the test completes for further analysis, graphing, and reporting in MESUR® gauge software a function that in many applications can replace dedicated data acquisition hardware and software entirely.
The M7I's Plug & Test® sensor interface stores all calibration and configuration data within the sensor's smart connector, not the indicator itself. This means any compatible Mark-10 force sensor (ranging from 0.25 lbF / 1N to 10,000 lbF / 50 kN full scale) or torque sensor (10 ozFin / 7 Ncm to 5,000 lbFin / 550 Nm full scale) can be plugged into the M7I and it is instantly recognized, calibrated, and ready to measure no recalibration, no manual configuration, and no sensor-to-indicator pairing restrictions. All sensors are also fully cross-compatible with Mark-10's M3I and M5I indicators.
Beyond high-speed data capture, the M7I includes a full suite of advanced test functions: break detection with automatic data output, storage, and zeroing; 1st and 2nd peak detection for tensile and multi-event tests; programmable footswitch command strings for hands-free testing sequences; external trigger mode for switch-contact testing; and averaging mode. Upper and lower programmable set points trigger visual indicators, outputs, or I/O pin toggles for pass/fail gating and test stand control. The M7I integrates with Mark-10 motorized test stands for functions including break detection stopping, dynamic load holding, and full PC control via Gauge Control Language 2 (GCL2). USB and RS-232 outputs support streaming data up to 500 Hz and configurable baud rates up to 230,400. The indicator is powered by either AC adapter or a rechargeable battery providing up to 7 hours of continuous use with backlight on.
Key Features
-
14,000 Hz Sampling Rate with 5,000-Point High-Speed Data Capture - The M7I samples at an industry-leading 14,000 readings per second, capturing the true peak load in the fastest-acting test events - switch activations, sharp breaks, snap-fit engagements, and other short-duration applications where slower instruments return artificially low results. Up to 5,000 continuous data points recorded at full 14,000 Hz acquisition can be stored internally and bulk-downloaded to a PC for complete load-vs.-time analysis without external data acquisition hardware.
-
Plug & Test® Sensor Technology - True Hot-Swap Interchangeability - All calibration and configuration data is stored in the sensor's smart connector, not the indicator, enabling any compatible Mark-10 force sensor (0.25 lbF to 10,000 lbF / 1 N to 50 kN) or torque sensor (10 ozFin to 5,000 lbFin / 7 Ncm to 550 Nm) to be swapped in instantly without recalibration or manual reconfiguration — and all sensors remain fully compatible with Mark-10's M3I and M5I indicators as well.
-
Advanced Test Automation - Break Detection, Footswitch Sequencing, and Auto Output — The M7I includes programmable break detection that automatically identifies when a sample fractures, slips, clicks, or reaches a peak-then-fall event, and can trigger automatic data output, memory save, display zeroing, or I/O pin toggle (for stopping a motorized test stand) upon completion - eliminating manual key presses and reducing cycle time in production and lab testing workflows.
-
±0.1% Full Scale Accuracy with 500 Hz High-Speed Data Output - The M7I achieves ±0.1% full scale accuracy across the complete force and torque measurement range, with a USB/RS-232 streaming data output rate of up to 500 Hz supporting real-time data collection, SPC integration, and full PC control via Gauge Control Language 2 (GCL2) for automated test stand applications.
-
Comprehensive Measurement Modes - 1st/2nd Peak, Averaging, External Trigger, and User-Defined Units - In addition to standard track and peak modes, the M7I adds 1st and 2nd peak detection for tensile and multi-event tests, an averaging mode for calculating mean loads over time, external trigger mode for switch-contact testing, a coefficient of friction unit, and a fully user-defined unit with a configurable multiplier and 5-character name - covering specialized applications from lever torque measurement to pressure conversion.
-
Mark-10 Motorized Test Stand Integration with Full PC Control - The M7I interfaces directly with Mark-10 motorized test stands to enable break detection stopping, dynamic load holding, and complete computer control of test sequences via GCL2; password protection for individual keys, calibration, and sensor authorization adds security in regulated or multi-operator environments, while the included MESUR® Lite software and compatibility with MESUR® gauge Plus enable everything from basic data tabulation to full load-vs.-travel analysis.
