Description

Phase2+ 900-345 Superficial Rockwell Analog Hardness Tester

The Phase2+ 900-345 is a dedicated Superficial Rockwell hardness tester engineered for materials and applications where standard Rockwell loads would cause excessive deformation or damage. Used for testing thin and soft material in the Superficial Rockwell hardness scales, this instrument is ruggedly engineered to obtain highly sensitive and accurate readings making it the go-to benchtop solution for thin sheet metals, case-hardened surfaces, lightly coated parts, and other workpieces that demand lighter test forces.

Conforming to ASTM E-18 Superficial Rockwell Hardness standards, the 900-345 offers unmatched repeatability across all Superficial Rockwell hardness scales, including the N series (15N, 30N, 45N) for harder materials tested with a diamond indentor, the T series (15T, 30T, 45T) for softer thin sheet metals tested with a 1/16" carbide ball, and the W, X, and Y series for very soft materials tested with larger carbide ball indenters.

Results are read directly from a precision analog dial gauge, providing immediate battery-free hardness readings cycle after cycle. The 900-345's reduced minor load of just 3 kgf and major loads of 15, 30, and 45 kgf significantly lower than standard Rockwell loads ensure that delicate workpieces are tested accurately without risk of cracking, deforming, or over-penetrating the surface. Lifetime technical support is included with all Phase II hardness testers and NIST/ASTM certified test blocks, penetrators, and accessory kits are available as options.

Key Features

  • Purpose-Built for Thin & Soft Material Testing - Designed specifically for the Superficial Rockwell hardness scales, the 900-345 applies lighter test forces (15, 30, and 45 kgf) that protect thin sheet metals, lightly case-hardened surfaces, coated parts, and soft alloys from over-penetration or surface damage during testing.
  • Full Superficial Rockwell Scale Coverage - ASTM E-18 Compliant - Supports all Superficial Rockwell scales including HRN (15N, 30N, 45N), HRT (15T, 30T, 45T), HRW (15W, 30W, 45W), HRX, and HRY series, conforming to ASTM E-18 for consistent, traceable results across a wide range of thin and soft materials.
  • Reduced Minor Load for Sensitive Applications - A 3 kgf minor (preliminary) load compared to 10 kgf on standard Rockwell testers delivers the gentle pre-load required for accurate Superficial Rockwell testing without disturbing or damaging delicate workpiece surfaces.
  • Dead Weight Loading with Direct Analog Dial Readout - Dead weight test force application ensures precise, repeatable load delivery on every test cycle, while the direct analog dial gauge provides immediate, battery-free hardness readings with real-time tactile feedback.
  • Generous Vertical Capacity & Throat Depth - A 6.7" vertical capacity and 6.6" throat depth accommodate a wide range of part sizes and configurations, supporting versatile testing in quality control labs, tool rooms, and production environments.
  • Lifetime Technical Support Included - Every Phase2+ 900-345 ships with lifetime technical support, a full set of Superficial Rockwell anvils and indenters, HRN and HRT test blocks, and an accessory case with NIST/ASTM certified test blocks and additional penetrators available as options.
