Description

Phase2+ 900-387 Motorized Twin Rockwell Hardness Tester

The Phase2+ 900-387 is a motorized, digital Twin Rockwell Hardness Tester that consolidates the full spectrum of standard Rockwell and Superficial Rockwell hardness testing into a single benchtop instrument. Designed for QC labs, heat treat operations, tool rooms, and inspection departments that work across a broad range of materials — from hardened steel and cemented carbides to thin sheet metal, case-hardened surfaces, and soft non-ferrous alloys — the 900-387 eliminates the need for separate Rockwell and Superficial Rockwell instruments by handling all scales, all indenter types, and all load levels within one tightly engineered platform.

At the foundation of the 900-387 is a closed-loop load cell system that applies and removes test force through a fully motorized, automated cycle rather than through dead weights or lever mechanisms. This architecture delivers significantly more precise and repeatable force control than conventional designs, resulting in a tested resolution of 0.01 HR — ten times finer than comparable motorized twin testers and a high-speed test cycle that reduces operator fatigue and cycle time without compromising accuracy. The one-touch testing feature on the micro-computer controlled touchscreen initiates the complete load/unload sequence automatically, removing the primary source of variability in benchtop Rockwell testing.

The 900-387 reads across all 15 standard Rockwell scales HRA, HRB, HRC, HRD, HRE, HRF, HRG, HRH, HRK, HRL, HRM, HRP, HRR, HRS, and HRV using both diamond and carbide ball indenters at 60, 100, and 150 kgf major loads. It simultaneously covers all 15 Superficial Rockwell scales (HRN and HRT families, plus W, X, and Y series) at 15, 30, and 45 kgf, using the 3 kgf minor load. Results display immediately on a high-definition LCD with automatic conversion to Brinell (HB), Vickers (HV), and all cross-applicable Rockwell and Superficial Rockwell scales giving inspectors a complete hardness picture from a single test without consulting external conversion charts.

Programmable dwell times, upper and lower limit settings, statistical reporting, and a test counter provide the QC documentation infrastructure required for structured inspection protocols. USB output connects directly to a PC for data transfer, SPC integration, and record management. The 900-387 complies with ASTM E18 and is available with full ASTM E18-20 certification for customers in aerospace, automotive, medical device, defense, and other regulated industries where documented instrument traceability is required.

Key Features

  • Full Twin Coverage for All Standard Rockwell and All Superficial Rockwell Scales in One Instrument - Tests across all 15 standard Rockwell scales (HRA through HRV) at 60/100/150 kgf and all 15 Superficial Rockwell scales (15N–45Y) at 15/30/45 kgf, eliminating the need for separate Rockwell and Superficial testers in mixed-material labs and removing scale-change downtime between inspection runs.
  • 0.01 HR Resolution via Closed-Loop Load Cell - Direct motorized force application through a precision closed-loop load cell achieves 0.01 HR readout resolution ten times finer than conventional motorized twin testers by eliminating the mechanical variability of dead-weight and lever systems, delivering highly sensitive, repeatable measurements across the full load range from 15 kgf to 150 kgf.
  • Touchscreen Interface with One-Touch Automated Test Cycle - The micro-computer controlled touchscreen manages the complete motorized load/unload sequence through a single operator action, removing force-application variability from the measurement chain; programmable dwell times, scale selection, and upper/lower limit settings allow the test parameters to be configured and locked for specific materials and inspection procedures.
  • Automatic Conversion to HB, HV, and All Rockwell/Superficial Rockwell Scales - Every test result is instantly cross-converted to Brinell (HB), Vickers (HV), and all applicable Rockwell and Superficial Rockwell hardness scales on the high-definition LCD, eliminating manual lookup tables, reducing transcription errors, and accelerating throughput in high-volume inspection environments.
  • USB Output to PC with Statistical Capabilities and Test Counter - Built-in USB connectivity transfers test data directly to a connected PC for SPC analysis, audit trail documentation, and records management; configurable pass/fail limits, statistical output, and a test counter support structured QC protocols and provide the documentation trail required for regulated manufacturing environments.
  • ASTM E18 Compliant and Available with ASTM E18-20 Certification - The 900-387 operates in conformance with ASTM E18 Rockwell hardness testing standards and is available with full ASTM E18-20 certification for customers in aerospace (NADCAP), automotive, medical device, defense, and other industries where documented verification of instrument compliance to the latest revision of the standard is a quality system requirement.
