The Phase2+ 900-442 is the newest addition to Phase2+'s Twin Rockwell/Superficial Rockwell hardness tester lineup, combining the classic cast body design trusted in labs and production environments worldwide with a fully automated Z-axis system that removes the last remaining manual step from the Rockwell testing cycle.

With Auto-Z Axis technology, operators simply press the START key once and the entire test process completes automatically regardless of the size or position of the sample, or the distance between the indenter and the sample surface. The sample is auto-lifted to approach the indenter, and hardness testing is completed fully automatically. This delivers higher precision than handle wheel lifting or dead weight type machines, which can be affected by user interaction.

Like all Phase2+ twin testers, the 900-442 tests both standard Rockwell and Superficial Rockwell hardness in a single instrument, covering the full range of 30 Rockwell scales across both methods and automatically converting results to Brinell (HB), Vickers (HV), and Knoop (HK). The test force is applied via a closed-loop control unit with a load cell, a DC motor, and an electronic measurement and control unit that replace traditional dead weights, resulting in highly accurate hardness measurements at all test loads up to 0.5% accuracy.
