The Phase2+ PHT-1700 Series encompasses three specialized portable Leeb hardness testers, the PHT-1700, PHT-1740, and PHT-1750 each built on the same reliable platform and differentiated by the impact device included to address a specific range of testing applications. All three models share the same economical, feature-loaded design: simple push-button operation, a large backlit LCD, automatic multi-scale hardness conversion, automatic mean value calculation, and on-board data storage. The series is designed to deliver consistent and repeatable hardness measurements across a broad range of metals on both flat and curved surfaces without requiring complex setup or specialized training.

The PHT-1700 is the general-purpose model, designed to measure the surface hardness of a broad variety of metals on flat or round surfaces using the universally standard Type D impact device, which is suited to the majority of testing assignments. The PHT-1740 is a dedicated variant designed to test gear teeth and other difficult-to-access applications, and comes complete with the Type DL impact device. The PHT-1750 is engineered specifically for large cast parts and components with rough surfaces, and is supplied with the Type G impact device, which features an enlarged test tip and increased energy output suited to heavy solid components. 

All three models achieve accuracy of +/- 0.5% referenced to L=800 with repeatability of +/- 4 HL units across a measuring range of 200 to 960 HL, and share the same compatible materials list: steel and cast steel, alloy tool steel, stainless steel, grey cast iron, spheroidal iron, cast aluminum, brass, bronze, and wrought copper alloy. NIST/ASTM certified hardness test blocks, penetrators, and kits are available as optional accessories for all three models.
