The Phase2+ PHT-5000 Brinell Optical Scan System is an advanced optical video measurement solution that eliminates the subjectivity and inconsistency inherent in manual Brinell indentation reading, replacing eyepiece-based measurement with a fully automated digital imaging and analysis platform. The system includes the core functions of a professional imaging system such as image capture, camera calibration, image processing, geometric measurement, document labeling, and album management and automatically or manually measures indentation diameters and calculates the Brinell hardness (HB) value, with HB2 measurement per DIN 1605 standard. 

The PHT-5000 automatically or manually measures indentation diameters on both calibration and test samples, automatically interpolates the HB value for the test sample, converts Brinell hardness to other hardness scales, validates test results against sample dimensions, and automatically updates statistical values including average, minimum, maximum, standard deviation, Cp, and Cpk. An automatic alarm function flags out-of-specification measurements as they occur, and the system generates fully customizable test reports in Microsoft Word or Excel format without requiring manual data entry or post-processing.

The system is built around a single 1.3-megapixel CMOS USB camera paired with two interchangeable camera tubes, each offering two magnification levels, providing four total magnification settings that cover the complete Brinell indentation measurement range. Tube 1 at magnification setting 1 is suited for indentation diameters of 3 to 6 mm; magnification setting 2 covers 0.8 to 1.6 mm. Tube 2 at magnification setting 3 covers 2 to 4 mm; magnification setting 4 covers 1 to 2 mm. The system resolution is 0.0001, and the image processing technology has been field proven under severe sample surface conditions. Note that a laptop computer is not included and must be provided separately.
