Phase2+ PHT-5050 Portable Brinell Hardness Tester

$5,017.74

Description

Phase2+ PHT-5050 Portable Brinell Hardness Tester

The Phase2+ PHT-5050 Portable Brinell Hardness Tester is a hydraulically operated, true-load Brinell testing instrument engineered to deliver accurate and repeatable HB measurements on large, heavy, or immovable workpieces directly in the field without requiring the part to be brought to a laboratory press. Built for durability, the PHT-5050 functions equally as a bench-type or portable hardness tester for field use.

The PHT-5050 utilizes a 3,000 kg load applied to a 10 mm carbide ball via a hydraulic principle with hand-operation, controlled through a small internal hydraulic system using a release valve to regulate the test force. Once applied, the indentation is available for reading or re-reading at any time using the included measuring microscope, making the system well-suited for applications where indentation verification or re-measurement is required. The hydraulic design eliminates the need for electrical power, making the PHT-5050 fully self-contained and operable in remote locations, construction sites, fabrication yards, and other environments without power access.

The PHT-5050 meets all Brinell testing standards including ASTM E-110, ASTM E-10, and relevant standards from ISO, JIS, and GB. Maximum specimen height is approximately 13 inches with a throat depth of approximately 4 inches, and the net weight of the instrument is 32 lbs.

Key Features

  • Hydraulic Load Application with Hand Operation - A self-contained internal hydraulic system with a release valve applies the full 3,000 kg test force manually, requiring no electrical power source and enabling operation in any field environment.
  • True 3,000 kg / 10 mm Carbide Ball Brinell Test - Applies the standard HBW 3000 test load using a 10 mm tungsten carbide ball, producing a permanent indentation that can be measured or re-measured at any time using the included optical microscope.
  • Tests in Any Orientation (Up, Down, or Sideways) - The clamping and hydraulic design allows the instrument to be oriented in any direction, enabling on-part testing of installed components, structural members, weldments, and assemblies that cannot be repositioned.
  • Dual-Use: Bench Type and Portable Field Tester - Compact and self-contained enough to be transported to job sites while also suitable for stationary use in a production or laboratory environment, making it one of the most flexible Brinell instruments available.
  • Compliant with ASTM E-10, E-110, ISO, JIS, and GB Standards - Meets all major international Brinell hardness testing standards, supporting regulated inspection workflows across aerospace, structural steel, heavy manufacturing, and weld qualification applications.
  • Compatible with PHT-5000 Optical Brinell Scanner - Pairs with the Phase II PHT-5000 Optical Brinell Scan System as an optional accessory to replace manual microscope reading with automated digital image analysis, HB calculation, and statistical reporting.
