Phase2+ PHT-6000 Series Ultrasonic Hardness Tester
The Phase2+ PHT-6000 Series is a family of professional-grade, handheld portable hardness testers that combine Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI) and Leeb Dynamic Impact hardness testing into a single, field-ready instrument. Available in four manual probe configurations — PHT-6001 (1kgf), PHT-6002 (2kgf), PHT-6005 (5kgf), and PHT-6010 (10kgf) — the series covers the complete spectrum of surface finishes and application requirements, from precision-ground and honed surfaces through rough machined and cast components.
Every model in the series shares the same high-performance base unit. The UCI method works by pressing a 136-degree diamond at the end of a vibrating rod into the test surface at a fixed load — the resulting shift in ultrasonic vibration frequency is then calculated into a hardness value. This process is categorized as non-destructive, meaning parts are not damaged, marked, or scrapped during testing — reducing inspection costs across production, maintenance, and quality control environments. Test steel and other metals with a minimum thickness of just 0.08" (2mm) and no upper thickness limit, accommodating everything from thin-walled precision components to massive structural members in the same test session.
Selecting the right model comes down to surface finish. The PHT-6001 and its standard 1kgf probe handle precision-finished and ground surfaces (Ra < 125 µin). The PHT-6002 with its 2kgf probe suits smooth machined surfaces (Ra < 197 µin). The PHT-6005 covers rough machined and normalized surfaces (Ra < 393 µin), and the PHT-6010 with the 10kgf probe handles the roughest machined, as-cast, and as-forged surfaces (Ra < 590 µin). All probes share the same connector and are interchangeable across any PHT-6000 base unit, and the full range of optional motorized probes (0.3kgf, 0.8kgf, 1kgf) and Leeb impact devices (D, DC, D+15, G, DL) are available as accessories.
Results are displayed immediately on a full-color backlit LCD screen with adjustable brightness, showing simultaneous hardness scale conversions across HRC, HRB, HRA, HB, HV, and Leeb (HLD) — with 2,000 groups of data memory, USB output, and included statistical software that exports directly to Word or Excel for complete field-to-office traceability documentation.
Key Features
-
Four Manual Probe Loads with One Proven Base Unit - Choose from 1kgf (PHT-6001), 2kgf (PHT-6002), 5kgf (PHT-6005), or 10kgf (PHT-6010) to match your specific surface finish and application — from precision-ground and honed components through rough machined, as-cast, and as-forged surfaces all sharing the same full-featured base unit with identical performance, memory, and connectivity.
-
Dual-Method Testing: UCI & Leeb in One Handheld Instrument - Combines Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI) and Leeb Dynamic Impact hardness testing in a single device, giving operators the flexibility to handle the full range of portable hardness testing scenarios without carrying multiple instruments into the field or onto the production floor.
-
Non-Destructive Testing on Parts as Thin as 2mm - The UCI method leaves no visible surface damage and tests steel with a minimum thickness of just 0.08" (2mm) with no upper thickness limit enabling non-destructive inspection of finished precision parts, thin-walled components, case-hardened surfaces, and large structural assemblies in the same test session, reducing scrap and inspection costs.
-
Multi-Scale Hardness Readout on Full-Color Backlit LCD - Results display in real time on a full-color LCD screen with adjustable brightness, showing simultaneous conversions across HRC, HRB, HRA, HB (Brinell), HV (Vickers), and HLD (Leeb), with selectable scales including HR15N, HR30N, HR45N, HR15T, HR30T, HR45T, HBW, HBS, HS, MPa, and more for immediate, actionable results in any environment.
-
2,000-Reading Memory with USB Output & Statistical Software - Stores up to 2,000 groups of measured data and 20 groups of calibration data, with USB connectivity and included statistical software for direct export to Word or Excel supporting complete measurement traceability, SPC reporting, and quality documentation for aerospace, automotive, medical device, and general manufacturing environments.
