Phase2+ PHT-6030/PHT-6080 Ultrasonic Hardness Tester
The Phase2+ PHT-6030 and PHT-6080 are state-of-the-art portable hardness testers that combine two industry-accepted testing methods, Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI) and Leeb Dynamic Impact into a single, handheld instrument. Designed for professionals in quality control, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and heavy industry, these testers deliver fast, accurate, and non-destructive hardness measurements on a wide range of metals, from thin coatings and finished parts to large structural components, without leaving any meaningful mark on the test surface.
The UCI method works by depressing a 136-degree diamond-tipped vibrating rod into the test surface at a controlled load. The shift in ultrasonic vibration frequency is then converted into a hardness value, enabling testing on metals as thin as 2mm (0.08") and at hardness values as low as 20 HRC (75 HB) — making it ideal for applications where dynamic impact testers fall short. The integrated Leeb Dynamic Impact method complements the UCI probe by using a spring-loaded impact body to measure thrust and rebound velocity, automatically converting the result to Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers, and Shore values for fast general-purpose testing on larger components.
The PHT-6030 is equipped with a 0.30 kgf motorized probe, making it the preferred choice for checking coating layer hardness and finished thin parts where surface integrity is critical. The PHT-6080 uses a 0.80 kgf motorized probe, optimized for smooth bearing-type surfaces. Both models feature a backlit color LCD display, 2000-group data memory with USB output, and multilingual software with statistical reporting exportable to Word or Excel giving QC teams complete documentation capability in the field or on the shop floor.
