Phase2+ PHT-6100 Ultrasonic Hardness Tester w/ 1kg Probe (motorized)
The Phase2+ PHT-6100 is the most advanced portable hardness testing instrument in the Phase II lineup, combining two fundamentally different and industry-accepted hardness testing methods, Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI) and Leeb Dynamic Impact into a single handheld device. This non-destructive handheld portable hardness tester merges UCI and Leeb portable hardness testing in one state-of-the-art device, enabling operators to address a far wider range of materials, part geometries, and testing requirements than either method alone could cover.
The PHT-6100 with its 1.00 kgf motorized probe is specifically designed for checking machined surfaces, with the motor-driven probe applying a precisely controlled and consistent load that eliminates the variability introduced by manual probe operation. The UCI method works by depressing a 136-degree diamond at the end of a vibrating rod into the test surface at a fixed load, calculating the difference in ultrasonic vibration frequency into a hardness value. Unlike dynamic impact testers, UCI hardness testers are not restricted to large mass items and can test metals as thin as 2 mm at hardness values as low as 20 HRC (75 HB). This makes the PHT-6100 particularly suited to thin-section components, case-hardened parts, coatings, and precision machined workpieces that cannot be reliably measured with a standard Leeb instrument.
The PHT-6100 covers a hardness range of HRC 20–70, HRB 55–100, HB 100–739, and HV 100–2970, with scale selection including Rockwell C, Rockwell B, Rockwell A, Brinell, Vickers, Leeb, and additional UCI-only scales including superficial Rockwell (HRN15, HRN30, HRN45, HRT15, HRT30, HRT45), HRF, Knoop (HK), and Shore (HD). Tolerance is +/- 3.0% deviation of average from the reference value of the test block with a minimum of 5 tests, and the instrument features a color LCD display with adjustable backlight brightness and multilingual interface selection. Battery life is approximately 6 hours without backlight, with a recharging time of approximately 8 hours.
Key Features
-
Dual-Method Testing in One Instrument (UCI and Leeb) - The PHT-6100 is the only Phase II portable tester that integrates both Ultrasonic Contact Impedance and Leeb Dynamic Impact testing methods, giving operators the ability to address thin sections, coatings, and precision parts (UCI) as well as large, heavy metal components (Leeb) from a single instrument.
-
1kgf Motorized Probe for Machined Surfaces - The motorized probe delivers a precisely controlled and repeatable 1 kgf loading force to the test surface, eliminating the force variation inherent in manual probe operation and ensuring consistent, reliable results on machined parts and similar finished surfaces.
-
Non-Destructive Testing on Thin and Precision Parts - The UCI method allows non-destructive hardness testing on workpieces as thin as 2 mm and as soft as 20 HRC (75 HB), making the PHT-6100 suitable for thin-walled components, case-hardened parts, finished surfaces, and parts that cannot sustain the impact load of a Leeb-only tester.
-
Widest Hardness Scale Coverage in the Series - In addition to Rockwell C, Rockwell B, Rockwell A, Brinell, Vickers, and Leeb, the UCI mode provides access to superficial Rockwell scales (HRN15, HRN30, HRN45, HRT15, HRT30, HRT45), HRF, Knoop (HK), and Shore (HD) - the broadest scale selection available in the Phase II portable lineup.
-
Large Memory with USB Output and Color Display - On-board data memory stores 2000 groups of measured data and 20 groups of calibration data, with USB cable output for PC download, all presented on a color LCD screen with adjustable backlight and multilingual interface.
-
Rechargeable Lithium Battery with Auto Power Off - Powered by a 4.2V / 4800 mAh rechargeable lithium battery providing approximately 6 hours of use without backlight, with auto power-off after 5 minutes of inactivity to conserve charge between tests.
