Phase2+ PHT6000 Accessory Probes

Description

Phase2+ PHT6000 Accessory Probes

The Phase2+ PHT-6000 Series UCI Probes are genuine replacement and expansion probes for the full PHT-6000 Series of portable Ultrasonic Contact Impedance hardness testers, including the PHT-6030, PHT-6080, PHT-6100, PHT-6001, PHT-6002, PHT-6005, PHT-6010, and PHT-6011. Available in eight configurations across two families motorized and manual these probes allow users to replace worn or damaged probes, add a second load configuration to an existing instrument, or expand a single PHT-6000 base unit's testing range without purchasing an entirely new tester.

All eight probes operate on the Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI) measurement principle: a 136-degree diamond tip at the end of a vibrating rod is pressed into the test surface at a fixed load, and the resulting shift in ultrasonic vibration frequency is converted into a hardness value. Because the UCI method is non-destructive and operates independently of part mass, these probes can test metals as thin as 2mm (0.08") — a capability that dynamic impact methods cannot match. The key selection variable across all eight probes is loading force, which directly determines the surface roughness tolerance of each probe. Lower loads produce shallower indentations suited to fine finished surfaces; higher loads produce deeper penetrations that can resolve a hardness reading on coarser, rougher, or as-machined surfaces.

The three motorized probes (PHT6000-221, PHT6000-241, PHT6000-251) use an automated loading mechanism that eliminates operator-applied force variability, making them the preferred choice for applications where surface finish is critical or where measurement consistency across multiple operators must be controlled. The 0.3 kgf motorized probe (PHT6000-221) is designed for coating layer hardness verification and thin finished parts; the 0.8 kgf (PHT6000-241) is optimized for smooth bearing-type surfaces; the 1 kgf (PHT6000-251) covers machined and highly polished surfaces. The five manual probes (PHT6000-310 through PHT6000-400) require the operator to apply and release the test load by hand, offering a cost-effective solution for less finish-critical applications and providing a wider surface roughness operating range — from Ra < 3.2 μm for the 1 kgf probe up to Ra < 15 μm for the 10 kgf probe. The extended-length LONG 1 kgf probe (PHT6000-330), at 213mm versus the standard 154mm, reaches into deep grooves, recesses, and confined geometries that the standard-length probes cannot access.

All probes connect to PHT-6000 Series base instruments via the standard probe interface. No firmware updates or additional hardware are required for probe changes between compatible configurations.

Key Features

  • Eight Load Configurations - One Selection Framework - Three motorized probes (0.3, 0.8, and 1 kgf) and five manual probes (1, 2, 5, and 10 kgf standard; 1 kgf extended-length) cover the full range of PHT-6000 Series UCI testing applications, from thin coatings and mirror-finish surfaces at the low end to as-machined and rough industrial surfaces at the high end with load selection directly determining usable surface roughness tolerance.
  • Motorized Probes Eliminate Operator Force Variability - The PHT6000-221, PHT6000-241, and PHT6000-251 use automated load application to remove human force inconsistency from the measurement, delivering the highest levels of repeatability for finish-critical surfaces, production line inspection, or multi-operator environments where measurement system consistency is a quality requirement.
  • Non-Destructive UCI Testing on Parts as Thin as 2mm - All eight probes operate on the Ultrasonic Contact Impedance principle, enabling hardness measurement on steel and other metals as thin as 2mm (0.08") and as soft as 20 HRC (75 HB) - applications where dynamic Leeb impact testing is not viable due to insufficient part mass or thickness constraints.
  • Extended-Length Manual Probe for Deep Groove and Confined Access - The PHT6000-330 LONG 1 kgf manual probe, at 213mm in length versus the standard 154mm, extends UCI testing capability into deep grooves, narrow bores, recessed cavities, and other confined geometries where standard-length probes cannot reach the test surface without requiring a probe stand or custom fixturing.
  • Drop-In Replacement for All PHT-6000 Series Instruments - All probes are fully compatible with every PHT-6000 Series base unit and require no calibration adjustments, software updates, or additional hardware for installation; they serve as direct replacements for probes that shipped with PHT-6001, PHT-6002, PHT-6005, PHT-6010, PHT-6011, PHT-6030, PHT-6080, and PHT-6100 testers, as well as expansion probes for base units adding a second load configuration.
  • Genuine Phase2+ Parts - These are genuine Phase2+ replacement and expansion probes, not third-party alternatives, ensuring full compatibility with PHT-6000 Series instruments, consistent diamond tip geometry, and the manufacturing tolerances required to maintain the ±3.0% accuracy specification of the PHT-6000 platform.
