Fixture Kits

Precision measurement starts with a stable foundation. The Fixture Kits collection offers purpose-built fixturing solutions designed to secure, position, and repeat, giving your CMM and inspection workflows the consistency they demand.

Every fixture kit in this collection is engineered to eliminate variables at the setup stage, so your measurements reflect the part, not the process. Whether you're running first-article inspections, in-process quality checks, or final verification, Our collection of fixture kits help you hold parts accurately and efficiently across every cycle.

The entire collection is made up of Rayco Fixtures modular CMM fixturing kits. Rayco specializes in purpose-built fixturing systems designed to secure and position parts for coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspection and vision measuring workflows. Kits are organized by thread size (M4, M6, M8, and 1/4-20), clamping method (standard, magnetic, and vacuum), and kit tier (A, B, or C based on component count). Every kit ships as a complete, ready-to-use system of modular components.

A CMM fixture kit is a collection of modular components such as standoffs, clamps, magnets, suction cups, locating blocks, and springs which is used to hold a part in a stable, repeatable position on a CMM or vision measuring system table. Without proper fixturing, parts can shift between setups or between operators, introducing measurement variability that has nothing to do with the part itself. A well-configured fixture eliminates that variable entirely, so every measurement reflects the part's actual geometry rather than an inconsistent seating position. For first-article inspection, in-process checks, and final verification, repeatability of the setup is just as critical as the accuracy of the measuring instrument.

Rayco fixture kits use three distinct clamping approaches. Standard clamping kits (CK series) use mechanical components including standoffs, tension springs, locating blocks, nylon and steel cones, jackstands, and slide bases to physically support and restrain parts which is suitable for the widest range of applications. Magnetic clamping kits (MCK series) add magnets of multiple diameters (13mm, 19mm, and 25mm) and pin magnets to the standard component set, enabling fast, tool-free part attachment on ferrous materials and ferrous fixture plates making it ideal for high-throughput environments. Vacuum clamping kits (VCK series) replace magnetic holding with suction cups (ranging from 10mm to 50mm diameter), a vacuum pump assembly, a 9-port manifold, and vacuum hoses which are designed to securely hold non-ferrous, smooth-surfaced, or delicate parts that cannot be magnetically clamped.

The collection covers four thread standards: M4, M6, M8, and 1/4-20 UNC. The thread size you need is determined by the threaded hole pattern of your CMM table or fixture plate. M6 and M8 are the most common metric standards found on European and Asian CMM platforms, while 1/4-20 is the dominant imperial standard found on North American equipment. M4 kits are designed for smaller or more compact fixture plates where a finer thread pitch is specified. Check your CMM or fixture plate documentation before selecting a kit since all Rayco component part numbers are prefixed by their thread size (R4-, R6-, R8-, R20-) to make identification straightforward.

The A, B, and C suffixes indicate the total component count and configuration depth of each kit. Kit A is the entry-level configuration, offering a smaller component count suited to simpler part geometries or labs just beginning to build out a modular fixturing system. Kit B provides a more comprehensive set of standoffs across multiple heights, plus a broader range of clamping and locating components, being the most commonly recommended starting point for a full production QC environment. Kit C is the largest configuration, with the highest total component count (typically 111 to 163 pieces depending on thread size and clamping type), covering a wider range of standoff lengths, additional magnets or suction cup sizes, tension spring varieties, and specialty components like mini towers and pivot joints. Larger kits give operators more flexibility to fixture complex or varied part families without ordering additional components separately.

Standard clamping kits contain modular standoffs in multiple diameters and heights (for example, 13mm, 19mm, and 25mm diameter standoffs in lengths from 15mm to 100mm), tension springs in small, large, and extra-large sizes, nylon and steel cones for part contact points, jackstands, locating blocks with bases, slide bases, a pivot joint, and component storage trays. The specific mix and quantity of each component type scales with the kit tier. These components thread directly into a CMM table's hole grid and can be reconfigured infinitely to accommodate different parts without additional tooling or custom fixtures.

Vacuum clamping kits (VCK series) include everything in a standard kit's mechanical component set plus a complete vacuum clamping subsystem: suction cups in multiple diameters (10mm, 20mm, 30mm, and 50mm), exposed suction cups for low-profile applications, a vacuum pump assembly, a 9-port manifold for distributing vacuum to multiple suction points simultaneously, 12-inch vacuum hoses, elbow connectors, and straight hose barb connectors. A dedicated vacuum component tray is included for organized storage. This makes VCK kits the right choice for smooth-surfaced non-ferrous parts such as aluminum stampings, plastic housings, machined castings where magnetic fixturing is not an option.

Vision Kits are fixturing systems specifically configured for use with vision measuring systems (optical CMMs) rather than touch-probe CMMs. Because vision systems require an unobstructed line of sight between the camera and the part being measured, the components in VK kits are selected and sized to minimize obstruction of the measurement area while still providing stable, repeatable part support. The RA6-VK and RA4-VK series (where "RA" denotes a vision-specific configuration) are available in M4, M6, and 1/4-20 thread sizes, in Kit B (86 components) and Kit C (111–131 components) configurations. They include standoffs, tension springs, locating components, and cones optimized for positioning parts on vision system tables.

Yes! Modular expandability is a core strength of the Rayco system. All components within the same thread size family are fully interchangeable. A shop that starts with a Kit B can supplement it with individual Rayco components over time to build toward Kit C coverage without purchasing a second complete kit. Components purchased from different kit tiers of the same thread size (e.g., R6-CK-B and R6-CK-C) share identical thread standards and dimensional footprints, so standoffs, clamps, and locating elements can be freely combined across kits. If your part family changes or grows in complexity, your fixturing system grows with it.
